Your Not Sick, Your Thirsty

Now while I haven't actually read this book. This is the basis for the "Water Diet" that I joke about with my family. My dad told me about this about a year ago and I have tried to stick to the pricipales of it since he told me......

For the most part if you really think about it, our body is comprised of about 70% water (I think that is what the consensus is or close to it). Ironically that is also right about the percentage of water on planet earth. Coincidence? Probably not, mother nature provides similarities between us humans and her, sometimes so blatently obvious that we have grown blind to the signs. Anyway, back to the subject. Since our bodies are mostly water if we are constantly cycling water through the body, then all organs, muscle, tissue, etc... are being renewed with pure fresh water and not using what your body has to pull in from other sources, like juice or soda, then your body will be healthier and will be able to fight off diseases and colds better. My dad says that the book recommends approx half your body weight in fluid ounces of water every day. So if my weight is 220lbs and I split that in half and use fluid ounces, then I would have to drink in about 120 fluid ounces of water a day. Sounds like a ton of water to be freakin drinking every day. Actually its pretty easy to get it in before dinner time. Here is my schedule that I do every day and I find that it is easy to get in all of my water.

6AM - Wake up, grab a 24oz propel and slam it down before I even step foot in the shower.
8-9AM - Have a 20oz bottle of water and a small OJ with my breakfast
10AM - Work on my first 1 liter bottle and polish it off before lunchtime (1 liter = 33 oz)
Lunch - Usually have some fresh lemonade or fresh brewed ice tea (2 large glasses of that add up to about 20 oz of water)
2PM - Work on my second 1 liter bottle and nail it down before 4PM
5-6PM - Have a 20oz bottle after i have some milk at dinner.
After that I completely stop drinking if I can help it. Otherwise I am up ALL night hitting the bathroom.

Total: 120-140oz water

Couple of things to note about this.
1. Yes, your probably saying, well, Propel is not water. True to an extent, Propel is water that has sugar and flavoring added to it. I drink Propel in the morning for two reasons. The first is, my trainer told me last year to have Propel in the morning because it has just enough sugar in it that it helps "open" up your cells and make them more receptive to both exercise and helping to get you going in the morning, as well as the sugar gives you a very minimal boost in energy in the morning without having any sugar crash that typically happens a few hours later. Secondly for some reason, I get really thirsty about an hour or two after drinking a Propel and need to drink *drumroll please* water to satisfy it.
2. My dad said the book recommends having about a total of a teaspoon of salt spreadout thru out the day so that you don't loose all that water due to going to the bathroom. The salt is supposed to aid in the retaining of the water. I don't due this just due to the fact that in today's society we get more than enough salt and sodium in our normal eating habits that I don't want to add any more than I already get. Plus my blood pressure is just below borderline, and by just below, I mean, it is borderline and I was told by the doc last year to cut back on my salt anyway.

I don't think I need to mention about the bathroom thing at all. Let's just say when you are doing this, that you will be going about every 20-30mins like clockwork. Which isn't necessarily all that bad, because it really keeps you awake.

04GTO:

I down 3-4 34oz water bottles everyday and avoid soda like the clap. Propel makes me feel funny/weird and makes me crazy thirsty.
